The main goal of any warehouse operation is to increase profitability. And the automated capabilities of Droste’s Warehouse Manager help achieve that objective. Prior to placing an order for the warehouse and subsequent third-party sales, Warehouse Manager evaluates and forecasts each transaction’s profitability, including shipping options. At the time the PO is generated, this module automatically allocates third-party sales and creates all internal distribution paperwork and accompanying audit trails. If needed, third-party orders can arrive and ship the same day, streamlining operations and keeping your actual on-hand inventory figures constant.
As a stand-alone module, Droste’s Warehouse Manager supports a warehouse’s daily activities, including generating purchase orders and reports. When used in concert with our Item File Manager and Best Cost Ordering (see sidebar) modules, Warehouse Manager is the cornerstone of a powerful ordering system with integrated automated reordering capabilities. Just by integrating with Item File Manager alone, warehouses gain extensive automated reordering capabilities. In addition to monitoring warehouse inventory, Warehouse Manager checks stock in the store through Item File Manager. When inventory is low in either or both areas, Warehouse Manager automatically generates purchase orders to replenish those items. Controls, such as user-defined minimum and maximum reorder levels and seasonal profiles, are built into the system to help you maintain adequate levels of stock in your warehouse and at the store in the most sensible manner.
Controlling costs by streamlining operations at receiving is another important part of the profitability equation. Warehouse Manager automatically generates receiving invoices when POs are created – eliminating the need for manually entering received items into the system. Upon delivery, your receiver verifies orders and either turns back unauthorized items or manually enters exceptions into the system. Scheduled delivery reports detail all deliveries expected on a given day and at a given time, allowing the warehouse to manage staffing levels to meet demand. And our FM handheld receiving option further enhances and automatically documents the receiving process.
Warehouse Manager tracks all inventory on a transaction basis and controls inventory by lot. The end result is an audit trail that not only records shrink and losses but becomes the basis for comparative valuation reports that detail current status and past history. Warehouse Manager also supports physical inventory entry and reporting, producing checklists and allowing manual adjustment of inventory figures to match actual inventory on hand.
Adding Droste’s Best Cost Ordering Module to the Warehouse Manager and Item File Manager duo significantly enhances profitability and vendor relations. Each time a store places an order, the Best Cost Ordering module systematically checks the warehouse and vendors and gives precedence to the warehouse. When stock is available at the warehouse, a transfer ticket is automatically generated to fulfill the store’s order. If stock is not available in the warehouse, the Best Cost Ordering module checks known vendors for their best pricing. The system generates a Purchase Order and any other paperwork required by the best available vendor for those items. In addition, the Best Cost Ordering module allows you to set clear defining parameters for outside vendor requisitions including:
